Marketplace privacy

What we collect

We don't ask for your name. If you sell something, we ask for a WhatsApp number or an email address (or both) so buyers can contact you. Your browser is given an anonymous ID so your listings and messages can be linked to you. We store the listings you publish (including photos and the WhatsApp number or email you give), reports you make, and when these happened. Our hosting and database providers process technical data such as IP addresses to run the service securely.

Why

To run the marketplace, let buyers contact sellers, prevent scams and abuse, and deal with reports. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests in running a safe local marketplace, and legal obligations where we must act on illegal content.

Who can see it

Listings and photos are public. Your WhatsApp number and email are shown to anyone who taps "Show contact" on a live listing, so only give details you're happy to share. We may review reported listings and share information with the police where the law requires or allows it.

Where it is stored

With Supabase (database and photos) and Netlify (website hosting). Data is stored in the EU (Paris region).

How long

Listings, including contact details, expire after 30 days and can be deleted at any time. Reports are kept for up to 12 months.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your data. Because we don't know who you are, tell us which listing or conversation it concerns. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies and storage

We use browser storage only to keep you signed in anonymously and remember the contact details you last used, so you don't have to retype it. No advertising or tracking cookies are used on the marketplace.
