🎨 National Gallery masterpieces are on display outdoors in Brentford — free, until February
You do not have to go to Trafalgar Square. The National Gallery’s Art On Your Doorstep has come to Brentford, and it is free and outdoors.
🖼️ What it is
Up to 30 masterpieces from the national collection, reproduced life-sized, in their frames, in fine detail — close enough to see the brushstrokes. They are printed reproductions rather than the originals, but they are made to be looked at properly.
They are placed in unexpected spots around the town rather than in a gallery, as part of the Creative Mile: Brentford Art Trail. This year’s selection is built around the theme of love, and was shaped by Brentford’s own people, landmarks and history.
📅 When
It opened on 4 September and runs until 14 February 2027 — so there is no rush, and it will still be there over half term and Christmas.
🚆 Getting there from Feltham
Brentford is in the same borough. It is a short train journey, or the 235 and other local buses run that way. The trail is outdoors and free, so it costs nothing beyond the fare.
Brentford is one of only twelve places in the whole UK chosen for the project, alongside Stoke-on-Trent, Croydon, Torquay, Derry, Kirklees and the Isle of Wight.

🏛️ Open House Festival brings free local visits and activities
The Open House Festival runs across Hounslow from 12 to 20 September, with free visits, tours and activities. The Hounslow programme includes a dedicated Feltham, Hanworth and Kempton neighbourhood.
Some activities are drop-in while others have limited places and require booking. Residents can use the programme to discover local buildings, heritage sites and community spaces that are not normally open in the same way.
Feltham area highlights: the programme includes Kempton Steam Museum on Sunday 13 September and St Michael Steiner School on Sunday 13 September. These give local residents several options without travelling far from Feltham.

🎨 Free Creative Club starts at Hanworth today
A second free weekly multi-arts club begins at Hanworth Centre, 64 Hounslow Road, Hanworth TW13 6QQ on Wednesday 16 September and runs through 9 December for children aged 8–12.
The sessions combine drama, art and dance, giving children a regular multi-arts activity close to home. Registration is required and places are limited, so families should check availability before attending the first session.
The programme continues into December, meaning successful applicants can take part in a series of sessions rather than a single event.

🏛️ Bedfont and Feltham Area Forum
The next Area Forum takes place on Thursday 24 September at 7:30pm at Feltham Assembly Hall. It is a public meeting where residents can raise local issues with councillors and Council officers.
Residents with a specific issue should check the Council's meeting information and contact arrangements in advance if they want an issue considered formally. Area Forums are intended to provide a local route for residents to raise matters affecting their neighbourhood.
Planning note: the meeting is at Feltham Assembly Hall in Feltham Park. Residents should check the official Council calendar closer to the date for the agenda and any changes to the meeting arrangements.
